Corrugated cardboard should be empty of all packaging and broken down prior to recycling.

NOT ACCEPTED

Please do not recycle any of the following cardboard:

oil stained
paint stained
grease stained
or waxed coated cardboard

Paper

We accept all grades of paper including:

Office Paper
Notebook Paper
Magazines
Cardstock, such as cereal, snack, and soda boxes
Junk Mail
Newspaper
Paper Bags

NOT ACCEPTED

Please place the following items in the trash as they cannot be recycled in our program:

Paper Cups
Napkins, Hand Towels, or Tissue Paper
Bubble Envelopes
Paper Plates
Food Stained Paper Items
Pizza Boxes

Plastics

ACCEPTED

We accept RIGID plastics number 1-PETE and number 2-HDPE. Examples include:

Water, Soda, Juice Bottles
Milk Jugs
Laundry and Soap Bottles

You can determine the type of plastic by finding the chasing arrow logo on the container. It will container the number that identifys the type of resin used. Look for a 1 or 2. Please make sure all bottles are empty of liquids, clean and dry before recycling.

Note, we can only take rigid plastics. If you have any soft plastics such as grocery bags or shrink wrap, you can take this to your local grocery store for recycling.

NOT ACCEPTED

Unfortunately at this time, we cannot recycle plastics number 3-PVC, 4-LDPE, 5-PP, 6-PS, or 7-Other, at this time.

Metals

ACCEPTED

We accept all types of metal including:

Metal Cans: Aluminum, Bi-Metal, and Steel
Scrap Metal: Aluminum, Steel, Brass, and Copper
White Goods: Washers, Dryers and Stoves
Furniture: Metal Folding Chairs, Desks and Filing Cabinets

All metal cans must be empty of liquids and food debris, cleaned and dry before recycling.

If your white goods and furniture are in relatively good condition, please donate them instead of recycling these items.

NOT ACCEPTED

We cannot accept white goods such as refrigerators or ice makers that contain or contained freon.

Wood

ACCEPTED

We accept the following wood for recycling:

Clean UNTREATED Scrap Wood
Full pallets
Loose wood with no metal attachments

NOT ACCEPTED

We do not accept the following:

TREATED, PAINTED, or STAINED Scrap Wood
MDF Wood
Wood Furniture or Cabinets
Tree Trunks
Stumps
Dirt
Sod

Pallets

ACCEPTED

We accept both plastic and wood pallets for the JBLM Pallet Reuse Program. Pallets do not have to be in perfect condition and painted wood pallets are accepted.

NOT ACCEPTED

We cannot recycle or accept any of the following:

Wooden Crates
Pallets with foam or plastic attached

Electronics

Toner Cartridges

Books

Food Waste

Small heap of vegetable peelings, compost, for organic and biodynamic gardening isolated on white

ACCEPTED

We now accept food waste for composting. This includes:

Vegetables
Fruits
Grains
Dairy
Meat
Coffee Grounds and Filters
Tea Grounds and Filters
Tea Bags

NOT ACCEPTED

Unacceptable food items include:

Bones
Shells

Please ensure your food waste has no rubberbands, twist ties, plastic bags, gloves, or any other trash.

Our compost program does not accept items including napkins, food wrapping, straws, plates, cups, coffee stirs etc.

Cooking Oil

We now accept used cooking oil and grease. Collection is only available during business hours at the McChord Field Recycle Center. Please ask for assistance upon arrival. Be prepared to empty your used cooking oil into the larger collection container on-site, personal containers will not be accepted.

NOT ACCEPTED

Oils other than cooking oil. Any debris or contaminated cooking oil.
